We know the decision to seek therapy is a complex one. We’ve answered some questions below to help make that decision easier for you.

Getting started with couples therapy, sex therapy, or relationship counseling is simple. We recommend visiting our booking page, choosing a time that works for you, and submitting a request for a free consultation call. This gives you an opportunity to connect with a therapist, ask questions, and determine whether we’re the right fit for your needs.

If you prefer to speak with someone directly, call us at (858) 365-0456 and we’ll help you schedule your consultation. Whether you’re looking for a San Diego couples therapist, intimacy counselor, or support for relationship challenges, we’re here to guide you through the process.

Returning clients can log into the Client Portal at any time to request an appointment.

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know you and understand what brings you to therapy. Whether you’re seeking couples therapy, sex therapy, marriage counseling, or individual support for intimacy and relationship concerns, we’ll discuss your goals, challenges, and what you’d like to achieve through our work together.

We’ll also review how therapy works, answer any questions you may have, and talk about what you can expect moving forward. As a marriage and family therapy practice serving San Diego, our goal is to create a comfortable, judgment-free environment where you can feel safe being yourself. We’ll move at a pace that feels right for you and your relationship.

We are a self-pay private practice and do not accept insurance. Many clients seeking specialized services such as couples therapy, sex therapy, and relationship counseling find that private-pay therapy offers greater flexibility, privacy, and personalized care.

By remaining independent of insurance companies, we can tailor treatment to your unique needs rather than insurance requirements, treatment plans, or session limits. If you have out-of-network benefits, we also partner with Mentaya to help simplify the reimbursement process.

We believe that high-quality couples and relationship therapy should feel valuable and accessible. If you have questions about fees or financial concerns, please bring them up during your consultation so we can discuss your options.

Mentaya is a service that streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits. Mentaya is perfect if you:

  • Have out of network benefits
  • Feel overwhelmed by submitting claims & superbills on your own
  • Have submitted superbills in the past but didn’t get any reimbursement
  • Simply want to skip the hassle of paperwork

Here’s how it works:

  1. Sign up using our practice’s unique link. Contact our office to get the URL
  2. Our practice enters your sessions into the platform
  3. Mentaya submits the claims & handles any insurance follow-up
  4. You get reimbursed by your insurance!

Mentaya charges a 5% fee per claim, which includes handling any paperwork required, dealing with denials, and calling insurance companies.

It’s risk-free: they guarantee claims are successfully submitted, or you’ll get a full refund of their fees.

At Everyday Intimacy, our fee is $190 per 55-minute session. We strive to provide high-quality couples therapy, sex therapy, and relationship counseling that feels both valuable and accessible. We have found that our rates are often lower than many licensed couples therapists, marriage therapists, and sex therapists in the San Diego area.

We understand that investing in your relationship and emotional well-being is a significant decision. If you have financial concerns, please discuss them during your consultation or with your therapist so we can explore your options together.

We understand that life happens and schedules can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please notify us in writing at least 24 hours before your scheduled session.

Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, as well as missed appointments, may be subject to a cancellation fee. This policy helps us reserve dedicated time for each individual and couple seeking therapy services in our practice.

Many people assume they should wait until their relationship is in crisis before seeking help, but relationship therapy can be beneficial long before problems become overwhelming. You may benefit from working with a couples therapist if you and your partner find yourselves having the same arguments repeatedly, struggling to communicate effectively, feeling emotionally disconnected, navigating changes in intimacy, rebuilding trust, or simply wanting to strengthen your relationship.

You don’t need to be on the verge of breaking up to seek support. Many couples use therapy as a proactive investment in their relationship, learning new skills that help them communicate more effectively, deepen intimacy, and create a stronger partnership. If you’re wondering whether therapy could help, a free consultation can be a great place to start exploring your options.

Yes! We provide in-person couples & relationship therapy for adults throughout San Diego, California. We also offer virtual telehealth sessions if you are located elsewhere in California. Whether you’re struggling with communication challenges, recurring conflict, emotional disconnection, trust issues, or major life transitions, couples therapy can help you better understand one another and strengthen your relationship.

As a San Diego marriage & family therapist, I work with couples at all stages of their relationship—from dating and premarital couples to long-term partners and married couples. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique goals, helping you build a healthier and more fulfilling connection.

Yes! Sex therapy can help couples and individuals address many of the challenges that impact intimacy, connection, and sexual satisfaction. Common concerns include differences in desire, difficulty communicating about sex, sexual anxiety, painful sexual experiences, emotional disconnection, and changes in intimacy related to stress, parenting, or life transitions.

As an intimacy therapist and sex therapist, I help clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships while creating a safe space to discuss topics that can often feel difficult or vulnerable. The goal is not simply to improve sexual functioning but to foster greater connection, trust, pleasure, and emotional intimacy within your relationship.

If you have questions about scheduling, fees, or getting started with couples therapy, sex therapy, or relationship counseling, you can call or text (858) 365-0456. You may also email tierra@everydayintimacy.com for non-clinical questions.

Questions regarding your therapeutic care, treatment goals, or relationship concerns are best discussed during session with your therapist.

Please note that we are not a crisis center and cannot provide emergency services. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, call 988 or 911 immediately for assistance.

Not necessarily. While most couples therapy sessions are attended by both partners, there may be times when individual sessions are clinically helpful and support the overall goals of therapy.

We’ll discuss the structure of treatment together and determine what approach best serves your relationship. In general, couples therapy is most effective when both partners are actively engaged in the process, but every relationship is unique, and we will tailor our work to your specific needs.
